College of Fine Arts

Founded in 1905, Carnegie Mellon's College of Fine Arts is a conservatory-style environment at a top-tier research university. CFA became a leader in architecture, music, art, design, and drama. Every day, CFA alumni have an impact in their industries. CFA is the model for professional arts education in a major research university well into our second century. Each day, CFA's students, faculty, and staff bring a unique energy to Pittsburgh and the world through projects and performances that are both spectacular and potent. The entire university is proud of the cutting-edge work that our staff, students, alumni, and faculty have contributed to global architecture, design, and other fields. Our College of Fine Arts at Carnegie Mellon is home to a diverse group of internationally and nationally recognized professionals and artists. This includes our five schools, Art, Drama, Design, Drama, Music, and our related programs (BXA Intercollege Programs and Arts & Entertainment Management), as well as the Miller Institute for Contemporary Art and Frank-Ratchye STUDIO for Creative Inquiry.
