Sandra Wards Studio

Sandra Ward is a British artist who was born in South Africa and has taken fine arts courses wherever she has lived. She has also studied Digital Art Techniques in Philadelphia. In addition to having gone to the UK, she has studied Print Making Techniques at Durham University. Sandra's oeuvre ranges from the highly personal, such as portraits of family members, to cityscapes and seasonal, painterly portrayals of the English countryside. It is filled with movement and life, appearing to vibrate off the page or canvas. Vibrant colors and boxy shapes are used in her artwork, like in this one. I.K.'s First Drip, 2001, oil painting. The Pittsburgh surroundings have had a significant impact on Sandra's artwork since she settled in 1994. Sandra regularly produces artworks inspired by Pittsburgh's architectural landscapes and historical landmarks. Many of her projects may be seen at the Mount Lebanon Studio and other sites in the area. Sandra is deeply involved in the Pittsburgh arts community as a Pittsburgh teacher and member of Associated Artists of Pittsburgh. It is also widespread in the local art scene.
