1.3. Early Days and Growth Traditional Construction all started with Mr. Lon McDurmon, III, who was a well-known field supervisor for big Memphis projects. Lon McDurmon, III, who is a small-time Memphis businessman, started the company as one of the most reputable construction firms in the region. John Wimpee and Mr. Lon McDurmon founded Traditional Construction Company in 1984. Traditional Construction Company completed the Dobbs Brother's headquarters and Anderson Tully Lumber Company's corporate headquarters within its first two years. John Wimpee, the construction company's lone shareholder since 1989, left the business after retiring and selling his shares. John Wimpee's retirement meant that Teresa McDurmon, who has dutifully served as the Traditional Construction Co., Inc's Treasurer since its establishment, was free from compromise. After selling out his shares in the construction company, Lon started looking for growth opportunities for Traditional. His two sons, LJ and Ryan, now work with the company's management. Traditional Construction Co., Inc continues to grow and expand with LJ and Ryan's help. Once Lon's children grow, they will be fully in charge and this will allow the workforce to build new relationships and expand the clientele base created by McDurmon. In this way, Traditional would build upon the foundations set by its founders, Lon McDurmon and Johnrampe.
