Founded in 1969, Hooks-Epstein Galleries, Inc. is the oldest running gallery in Houston and Southeast Texas. It represents established as well as mid-career and emerging artists. The gallery is a trailblazer in museums, with a range of versatility that spans media. The gallery is known for its focus on works on paper, but it has gradually evolved into a modern art gallery, offering secondary market works. Hooks-Epstein Galleries is the only gallery in the southern United States that specializes in fine art and glass. Toots Zynsky, Alex Gabriel Bernstein, Bertil Vallien, and several other top glass artists are featured in the gallery's inventory, reproducing their styles and manipulating glass. The gallery has showcased both international and national exhibitions since its launch. Also, the gallery publishes catalogs that can be used for research; these include a checklist of an exhibition. The gallery has also created exhibits that have been displayed in various museums worldwide.

Most reviewers expressed gratitude for a profound experience at the gallery. The atmosphere is intimate and sociable, and it often hosts artist talks, usually intimate and friendly. The show places a significant emphasis on emerging talent from Houston and around the world. One review even mentions Masaru Takiguchi, a childhood influence. Therefore, the gallery is heralded for its outstanding curatorial acumen. Many consider the establishment a refuge for Latinx collectors. It's also an excellent space for curious individuals and novices who want to experiment with new art. The staff are outstanding; they are lauded as kind and supportive and are always willing to assist budding collectors. One reviewer stated that the gallery's collection is one of the best in Houston. The reviewers all agreed on one thing: the gallery is magnificent.
