Wandering Star started on a delightful Thursday morning in spring 2019. It was a perfect day, with the sun shining, the temperature not yet reaching 80 degrees, the wind at our backs, and Kevin and I had decided to ride our gravel bikes to Hollister that day. We had no idea what was in store for us. Kevin and I have been friends since 2010 when he walked into my bike shop and quickly became an entrepeneur. We've ridden bike countless miles together, exchanged thousands of stories, and stood up in each other's weddings. It was a miracle before my son's wife cut his hair that he was not even part of my business. I missed him and we were business partners. This story starts a little earlier, though. I have owned a bike shop called Blue Line Bike Lab since 2005. We are the coolest. Kevin has Green Swallow Creations, a world-famous screen printing and graphic art shop, for around 24 years. Kevin is awesome and does all our graphics and screen printing for our T-shirts and hats in our bike store. Kevin suggested that I make T-shirts and watches that were only our brand and sell them in my bike store. Our initial concept is what he did. The sun was shining and the birds were singing as we discussed our next options for the space that we were discussing what could be done in that space M. I can't help it. Once something gets stuck in my head, it's next to impossible to let go. Without a plan or research, I move forward with my idea at a bazillion miles an hour. This spark turned into a fire in me that I could not stop. A few weeks later, Kevin and I had iced coffee in Down House when I told Kevin that I would like to open a store with him, but it had to be an outdoor shop that would have our strong brand and maybe even our brand of shirts. He could not believe it and the next morning he realized that when we came up with the idea together, we would actually run a store together.
