Owners, History, and Awards Harmony Hills Garden Center was bought by Frank Kirby, George A. Beere, and Frank Kirby in 1976, located near West Ave. and Blanco Road. Both Hollywood Park Garden Center at Thousand Oaks/Highway 281 was bought around 1978, and their names were changed to Rainbow Gardens in 1980. It flourished, and around this time, the other garden centers closed. In 1985, two larger locations, each 6-7 acres, were purchased. Their properties are being increased every year. Rainbow Gardens has grown to be one of the city’s top-rated gardens, and we are a family-friendly destination with impressive display gardens, high quality plants, and knowledgeable staff. We have free classes and other events. We are also listed in San Antonio Express News Reader's Choice Gold Awards, Best Nursery, Winer 2011, 2015, 2017, 2020, 2021. We are honored!
