About this business

Nick and I moved to Los Angeles from Portland for our music careers years back. We went to Handsome Coffee in the Arts District. The owner required a handyman during our visit. Nick was filled with experience in fixing cars from the auto body shop owned by his father. His eagerness to assist made him the best person for the upcoming barista job. He was not conversant in coffee from the beginning. He soon learned, and I would visit him at the cafe and read books as Nick made me a drink. One afternoon, my mother called. My mother always has out-of-this-world ideas, so I took it with a grain of salt. Meg, why don't you start an electronic all-girl band who performs only in national parks? Or, "Why don't you establish an eBay company that sells used prom dresses?"

Reviews Summary

The cafe is frequented by customers praising its coffee quality, including matcha latte with oat milk and espresso. The customers acknowledged the cafe's central downtown position and the welcoming atmosphere that is conducive to socializing with friends. However, the small cafe space can get crowded at times, and there is no Wi-Fi. The reviewers highlighted the expertise and enthusiasm of the baristas and cited ongoing patronage as a testament to the cafe's high-quality coffee. They also appreciate the finite portion sizes and from-scratch experience, elegant la Marzocco equipment and single-origin bean options. Some critiques recommend no pour-over, but the matcha latte availability makes up for this shortage. Customers appreciated the pastries and the absence of large chain coffee outlets. Yet the consensus is that the coffee shop is a lovely retreat, with passersby stopping in to recharge. The shop receives rave reviews for its espresso, which had a very positive review for the thickness of the foam. While the coffee shop was not perfect, it is still recommended as a place to find a quality cup of coffee even under pressure.
