Artemis Gallery was founded in 1997 by Richmond resident John T Crutchfield. The address of the gallery is 1601 W Main St, in the heart of the Fan District. Artemis, a goddess of mystery in Greek mythology, is named for the Gallery. She was also a master archer. Artemis Gallery’s artists exhibit the creativity, mystery, and skill attributed to her. Crutchfield, who owns Metallic Art Graphics, has a primary focus on exhibition and studio work. As a minority-owned Virginia corporation, he has shown his art for over 40 years. Selling art out of his Metallic Art Graphics studio eventually led him to open the Artemis Gallery. Although Crutchfield had not yet owned a retail store when he opened Artemis Gallery, over 20 years of art trading, national exhibition attendance, and licensing had helped him build a collection of fine art and craft.
