Maria Osende Flamenco Co. is bringing the soul of Spain into the heart of Atlantic Canada. The company was founded by Spanish choreographer and dancer Maria Osende in Canada after she moved to the country in 2004. They have toured extensively throughout the Atlantic Provinces, Quebec, and Vancouver and performed at numerous multicultural festivals. Under the umbrella of "The Atlantic Flamenco Productions Society", "the company" is the artistic and creative work done by Osende. Osende's structure is flexible, allowing her to create small or large-scale shows and reconfigure them for specific projects. They may include her Halifax-based dancers and musicians, or collaborate with other artists and institutions. Osende, the creator of the company, is its driving force. In the past 18 years, she has created over 30 pieces, from main-stage shows, to solos, or choreographies for special events. Collaborations with artists from Spain, Germany, and other countries as well as explorations of art are also part of her projects. Over time, her work has evolved, sometimes pushing boundaries and other times staying rooted to traditional flamenco. Osende spent over 10 years as a soloist with the National Ballet of Spain, and the Berlin Ballet in Germany. She is unique because of her extensive performance experience and her working experience with dancers from different dance styles ranging from Bharatanatyam to contemporary dance.

In May 2014, Lindsay Fraser founded eda. "I knew my dream would soon come true, so I had to ensure that it had a perfect name," says Lindsay. She has been always inspired by her own family. They were running around in all directions, but her family was what mattered the most. Even when she refused to let her stop dancing at age five, Lindsay’s mother Michelle knew what dance meant for her. Raechelle, Lindsay’s older sister was her first student. When Lindsay was in junior secondary school, she began choreographing for her sister. "Rae was my baby, I wanted her to shine and so I drove her crazy," says Lindsay. The name Elle stands for hard work, support, and dedication. This is what makes up today. The names of Michelle and Raechelle play a big part in the story behind the studio's name. Lindsay is confident that she can create a top-notch dance studio with the strong work ethic and support she learned from her parents. This class is a great introduction for young dancers that aren't quite ready to leave their parents to start dance classes. The class requires a parent to attend. The dancers are invited to participate in the year-end recital, which will take place in May 2023. Date TBD. Details to be announced. This class introduces basic ballet techniques. The class will also include simple movements across the floor, and we'll be having a lot of fun.
