We prioritize flexibility in our relationships with artists. This allows them to take their own path while adapting to the individual artists' needs of support, education, and acquired experiential knowledge. Community is defined as shared ownership, referencing artist-run centers, social responsibility, and the notion that an area can be given meaning and created by its users. We use this foundation to create kinships between artists, communities, and our partners. These events have allowed many Saskatoon residents to have art in their homes that they bought at our art shows, or made themselves in our classes. The University of Saskatchewan’s Community Arts and Artisanship Program offers an extensive array of non-degree art classes and workshops in drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, metalwork, glass art, and textiles. We are pleased to present this group exhibition of small scale works by nine of the program instructors. These vibrant, beautiful quilts and those who dedicate countless hours to their creation remind us of the qualities that continue to sustain us during these challenging times: our endless imagination, patience, resourcefulness, and the desire to share skills, and ideas and build community. The Saskatoon Modern Quilt Guild was established in December.
