The Surplus Store is a family-owned and operated business in Venice, Culver, and West Los Angeles since 1946. We are a camping supply and army store with all you need. Whether you need camping clothes, emergency kits, hiking boots and school supplies, or Halloween costumes, our wide variety of products is enough. In Venice and West Los Angeles, the family business has been serving for many generations. The store's great-grandfather set up the store in 1946 after World War II. He initially sold surplus aircraft parts. One of the first customers to visit the warehouse was Howard Hughes. As the years passed, the inventory expanded to include a variety of products, from emergency kits to military personnel clothing and tactical gear patches and pins, tents, and camping gear, jackets and shirts. The store relocated to its current location in 1978. The store has not moved from its West LA residence. But it is still family-owned and operates.
