Arts Street was founded in 1995 by Stella you and originally operated under Denver's Office of workforce development. It was created in order to help youth with low income to channel their natural talents and curiosity into the professional activities they need for the future. Arts Street, a non-profit organization called "Friends of arts street", was established in 2003. It began to offer standard-based classes and cross-disciplinary enrichment classes. These were held in borrowed spaces, such as schools, and community groups, and then moved to the current la alma location in 2012. Arts Street's outstanding art education has earned it many awards over the years. These include 2004 coming to a taller award and a 2008 us department of Labor workforce innovation grant (wired). We moved to our current location in the la alma neighborhood in 2012 with a grant called "Our Town" from the national endowment for the Arts, which is only one of sixty nationwide. DHA and our powerful partnership bring opportunities for youth from the most vulnerable communities. These opportunities are intended to inspire and nurture these young adults and help them become professionals of tomorrow and to use their creativity for the benefit of the workplace. It is possible by creating and implementing high-quality career-based education programs that combine real-world learning with artistic expression and creative thinking. This program teaches critical and creative thinking skills to young people, especially those that may struggle to connect with traditional education or youth without the support of their families. Arts Street participants have the opportunity to explore how creativity can be used to make a difference in their lives and careers.
