Jill Baker, Lee Pennington, and Salvador Doggie live in Louisville, Kentucky. Her life revolves around writing, painting, and traveling with Lee. Baker received her M.F.A. in 1981 from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, N.Y. Baker earned her M.F.A. She has a B.A. in English as well as Fine Art. Graduate work was also done at Florida State University and Columbia University. She has also studied at the Academia Di Belle Arti Florence in Italy, as well as at Cal State Los Angeles. Jill Baker is an artist with a MFA from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn. She has been teaching Art at the college level for over 17 years. As a young intern, my first job was teaching drawing at Pratt Institute. If you'd like to know some funny stories from those times, I can tell them. My philosophy of education is something I'd like to share with you. When I teach art to artists, my philosophy is that you should be treated the same way as I'd like to. While I may have more years of experience or education than those who I am teaching, my personal art goals and desires are the same as theirs. It is beneficial to take classes with someone who has experience, as the instructor can see my art from a different perspective and objectively see its strengths and flaws. It is the teacher's responsibility to find your strengths and highlight them, as well as to work with you to improve any weaknesses. Teacher also introduces students to areas of art they may have never been exposed before such as value, color and perspective. From the first drawing, I wanted to teach others how to better paint. This desire led me to become a teacher. It is difficult to try and perfect your art. I know how frustrating it can be. Every day I am learning from my students, but also from other people, because art making is a never-ending process. My studio provides a relaxing atmosphere, while maintaining safety and working rules. You can bring snacks and drinks to the class if you wish. There is also a coffee maker in the kitchen. The space is available for storing some of the paintings. Each artist has their own stools, easels, paint storage boxes, paint stands and a paint stand with glass palettes. Paints, canvases, brushes, and an idea about what you want to paint are brought by each artist. The artists should bring along a sketchbook and pencil.
