Current Space

Current Space is a gallery, studio, and outdoor performance space. We are an artist-run space designed to foster a dialogue between artists, activists, performers, designers, curators, and intellectuals. From November 2004, we have been dedicated to featuring, fostering, and increasing artistic contributions in Baltimore and around the world. Current Space provides access to visual art studios, music rehearsal space, screenprinting and darkroom facilities, and a lot more anytime. This application will be regularly evaluated in our programming meetings; it may take time to get a response. Your applications are highly valued and encouraged. However, due to the quantity, we are unable to reply to all submissions.

The Current Space reviews provide an overwhelmingly affectionate portrait of the Baltimore art scene's bedrock. Current Space has cultivated an inclusive vitality in both contemporary and more artistically grounded art and performance scenes for almost twenty years. Events are vibrant, provide a variety of offerings, and nestle seamlessly between the gallery and relaxed outdoor garden. The tight-knit community that has cropped up around this space cultivates a positive, laid-back, fun, and ego-free vibe. The location feels a bit dangerous for no good reason, and bar and event programming could improve, but these are minor sticking points overall. Current Space is a must-visit, as its supportive, community-focused ethos is contagious. A joyous five-star rating.
