ABOUT   Services Excellence Summary

Robert McClintock, a native of Brattleboro, Vermont, was born in 1958 to parents from Brooklyn, NY. His father was an actor and his mother was a hairdresser and dancer. His dad was a Brooklyn Arthur Murray dancer, and in 1954, they moved to Vermont. He grew up at the base of Mt Snow Ski Area in Wilmington, Vermont. His older brother Richard is the only sibling he has. He graduated from Vermont Academy and then went to the University of Vermont. He was supposed to go to medical school, but everyone who knew him left college partying after a year. He then worked in restaurants as a waiter and bartender for the next 15 years. Robert’s family has always been supportive of his choices. He has always liked the arts, especially photography. In the mid-60s and ‘80s, his grandfather was an amateur NYC photographer. When they visited, he would help his aunts, who worked as styling assistants in Manhattan for the big fashion photographers, Jon Abbott and Ray Kellman. The aunts would collect catalogs and magazines for the photographers, and that’s where Robert got his idea. In his hometown, Robert was known as a promising photographer. He set up a darkroom in his bathroom. His first time he got paid to take photos was at age 16 during a summer job at The Marlboro Summer Theater, where he took headshots. He made it a career. Robert became the go-to photographer for small jobs in town. He liked the fact that he could make money from his hobby.
