BOX 13 ArtSpace, a Houston-based 501(c),3 non-profit organization operated by artists, was founded in January 2008 by Houston artist Elaine Bradford and Whitney Riley. BOX 13 ArtSpace was designed to expand Houston's art reach by offering affordable studios and gallery space to artists. They found a second-hand building in Houston's East End, a former showroom and sewing machine factory. This became their home. BOX 13 ArtSpace is dedicated to encouraging and producing experimental contemporary art. BOX13 offers affordable workspaces for established and emerging artists. With their peers and the public, residents artists foster dialogue and confront current arts trends within a creative environment. BOX13 relies on the support of individual donors and sponsors, as well as its residents artists, for its existence.
