I am a member of the California Association of Realtors mediation board and have extensive private experience. I was motivated to help others resolve their problems in the best way. While I have a legal background, my main focus is to help the individuals involved solve their problems, without any further court intervention. This often requires communication, honesty and an open mind to exploring new ideas. People don't need litigation to complicate their life or current circumstances. People with high conflict are unlikely to make changes. The majority of people can use reason and persuasion to reach a compromise. This is what the High Conflict Individual doesn't want to do. They are known for increasing tension and conflict in all areas of their lives. The problem is often not what you are looking for. The number of high conflict individuals is increasing. They do it as a way to relate to the outside world. Their divorces are bitter and explosive. At work they have inflaming interactions, accusing other people of trying to take them. They make impossible customers. On social media, they attack others. They render reasonable mediation impossible.
