Artistic Director Alyce, a dancer, choreographer, teacher, and performer opened in West Hartford Connecticut, Alyce's Carella Dance Centre in 1960. Miss Carella has given thousands of students ages 2 up to 80, beginners up to professionals the joy of dancing. Many of her former students are now dancing professionals in New York City, Disneyland Florida, Las Vegas, and California. Over a dozen of her former students opened their own dance schools. Miss Carella began her career performing and choreographing on the whole east coast in theaters and on TV. She danced for Sammy Davis Jr., Nat King Cole, Liberace, Jerry Lewis, and many other stars at the 500 Club, Atlantic City for 2 1/2 years. She has choreographed many musicals, both for summer stocks and local theaters. Her own Jazz Dance Company performed in concerts and lectures for over 12 years. Miss Carella’s company teaches preschool ballet, preballet, and ballet pointe. Adult and mother/father/daughter classes are also offered, as well as lyrical and hip-hop. The underlying philosophy of the company is to bring joy and confidence into the dancer. The family-operated business has a friendly and positive atmosphere. Miss Carella's goal is to give the student a unique experience in the joy of dancing and make them forget their worries while immersed. Miss Carella's philosophy is that dance is both an art form and a sporty activity. Dance Masters of America is a proud member, along with the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce, Dance Teachers Club of Connecticut, and Dance Masters of America.
